Hit the ground…

Dad on the Quantocks – always a good sport!
Well lost in focus friends, I’m now back in England and feeling just about settled enough to catch up with internet things.
It’s actually great being back because although everything is so familiar I can understand people and how everything works – there were always unusual surprises in Thailand! I feel I have changed since I last lived here particularly when it comes to appreciating my surroundings. The light is fantastic!
The plan is to stay in Somerset a while to catch up with my family and then make the move to London where I hope eventually to get on an MA in photography course, although rather refreshingly there are no plans set in stone. There is so much happening and already in the short space of time I’ve been back, I’ve visited more exhibitions than I did in all my time living in Asia. I have also signed up for a darkroom weekend residential with reknowned local photographer and printer Ron Frampton – got to get a protrait of him whilst learning the magic!
I’ve also signed up for ‘A story is born‘ a seminar in developing photo essays which looks really exciting and just what I need to help with my frustrations with developing a narrative over a sequence of pictures and my personal editing problems.
I have been invited to present some of my pictures at a local photography club and this past Monday visited Taunton Camera Club which I just have to do a separate post about if I can get some pictures. I have also been asked to cover a catwalk show for the local design college which could furnish some personal projects with models.
And of course there are all these western faces to appreciate!
Look forward to catching up with all that’s here.
