  1. Very graphic, Kaden. I love the lines of tension and the abstract nature of this image. I am reminded of sheet music when I look at this: the silhouetted trees are like the notes themselves, floating on the power lines of the sheet…

  2. Thanks Scott. Indeed if this was music writing it would have sound like drones. :)

  3. I also like this simple abstract shot and agree with Scott that there is a nice graphic feel here. I also like the discrete muted tones which are not simply b&w. I am wondering whether there would be more of a visual impact if the two top power lines were in the empty space above the trees and also were more horizontal (maybe that would have been difficult with the sag and positioning). I wonder whether the abstraction would be re-inforced with that higher placement of the lines? Just a thought and thanks.

  4. I spent a long time looking at this image… love the graphic nature as the others have pointed out – also the almost surreal OOF of the tree itself (in stark contrast) to the branches / twigs. How do you get that effect? Post processed in photoshop or developer?

    Hi Lawrence,

Glad you should ask. This is my feeble attempt at a Palladium print. To simplify the explanation:

    1. Shot Kodak Ektar 100.
    2. Developed it with a Jobo 2200 using Kodak Flexicolor.
    3. Scanned it with the Nikon Supercool scanner 9000ED.
    4. Made adjustments in PS.
    5. Printed it into Pictorio OHP Transparency.
    6. Coated/sensitized paper.
    7. Hair dried it.
    8. Used contact print frame and ultraviolet light for exposure of negative.
    9. Developed/processed exposed print.

Btw, the file posted is as it came out of the scanner with the
permissible adjustments as allowable by the Nikon 9000 ED.
