Ewan Brown
Ewan Brown is a Scottish photographer now living and working in the East of England. After a long period away from photography following a different career path, Ewan spends as much of time as possible learning about and working on film and ‘alternative process’ photography which have become a true passions.
It is Ewan’s personal belief that, although photography has always been an enthralling amalgam of a view, the photographer’s eye, vision and skill, the camera, the sensor, processing and printing; in the digital age the uniqueness of the camera and, to some extent, the skills of printing have had a diminishing influence. Furthermore, he believes we could be losing something in the constant demand for ruthless digital sharpness. As a result, Ewan has taken to rediscovering the subtleties of black and white film, vintage cameras and old style printing processes.
By drawing inspiration from the past and the wide pool of talented photographers around and by learning to look hard, Ewan is searching to create unique images, some of which may just allow the viewer to dwell a little longer and contemplate our own place.
