Stu Egan
Stu Egan grew up in a small town near Liverpool in England and currently lives in London, where he makes a living editing books. Before settling in London he lived in Washington DC and Hull, two cities which are definitely not twinned with each other.
Stu’s interest in photography began after being impressed by the photographs of a friend, coupled with a spell travelling in 2005. Prior to 2005 Stu’s spare time was often spent writing for magazines about music, but photography took over and instantly felt like a more natural way to spend time. The learning process has been – and remains – slow and gradual for him, and though photography has opened up a world of possibility and enjoyment, his path so far has also included plenty of false starts and shifting styles.
At the moment Stu finds most comfort pacing city streets, working towards a greater deal of honesty with the camera, and trying to photograph the humorous, melancholic and odd life unfolding all around.
